Introduction: Dr. Keith Dinnie is a faculty member at the University of Dundee School of Business (UDSB), Scotland. He is Programme Director for the MSc International Marketing degree programme on which he teaches the module ‘Place Branding for Cities, Regions and Countries’. He is the author of Nation Branding – Concepts, Issues, Practice (Routledge), the first textbook on the subject, now in its second edition. He is the editor of City Branding – Theory and Cases (Palgrave Macmillan) and was Academic Editor of the journal Place Branding and Public Diplomacy from 2009-2011. He is a non-executive director on the board of Visit Dundee, Ltd. and a founding member of the International Place Branding Association (IPBA).

As a leading figure in the field of place brand management, Dr Keith Dinnie is regularly invited to give keynote speeches at international conferences. He has also delivered workshops and seminars for participants from public sector organizations such as the Trade Council of Iceland, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Philippines Tourism Promotions Board, Republic of Indonesia National Agency for Export Development (NAFED), Brunei Industrial Development Authority (BINA), and Tourism Authority of Thailand. He has delivered workshops and seminars for participants from private sector companies including Heineken, Sara Lee, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Sofitel Hotels, Siemens, SC Johnson, and Reckitt Benckiser.

Dr Keith Dinnie’s research has been published in high-profile journals including Marketing Theory, Tourism Management, International Marketing Review, European Journal of Marketing, Place Branding and Public Diplomacy, Journal of Destination Marketing and Management, and International Journal of Tourism Cities.

His training, consultancy and research work includes projects conducted on behalf of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Institute of Industrial Policy Studies (IPS), William Grant & Sons, Euro RSCG advertising agency, Landor Associates, Burson-Marsteller, Diageo, ScottishPower, and Halifax Bank of Scotland. He has also advised the Korean Presidential Council on Nation Branding and the UK Government’s Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.
