Following a record attendance year, plans for the 2016 Canadian National Exhibition are well underway with a legendary line-up to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the iconic Bandshell, along with all-new attractions and returning favourites.

One of the Great White North’s beloved musical sons, Randy Bachman of The Guess Who and Bachman-Tuner Overdrive will be rocking the Bandshell on Opening Day to perform his greatest hits. Music legends Jefferson Starship, Glass Tiger’s Alan Frew, country superstar Dean Brody, East Coast Rockers The Trews and pop sensationScott Helman are among the first confirmed acts to grace the Bandshell this season.

Fanboys and fangirls will trek far and wide to the Exhibition grounds to partake in the CNE’s newest feature, Star Trek: “50 Artists. 50 Years.” The art exhibit will showcase 50 artists from around the world commemorating the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, including photographs by “Spock” himself, the late great Leonard Nimoy. Also NEW this year is the CNE Innovation Garage, a showcase of the next generation of consumer products – reminiscent of when the CNE was a mecca for debuting some the world’s greatest product innovations and technologies such as the Electric Railway in 1883, Edison’s phonograph in 1888 and the wireless telephone in 1890. And making a splash at The EX will be an all new spectacular Waterfront Show packed with daily programming of wakeboarding and waterskiing shows, and much more!

And of course, every year foodies mark their calendars for the highly anticipated reveal of the CNE’s crazy culinary concoctions – as well as the nostalgia of funnel cakes and ice cream waffles.
