Would you like to get indulged in music, drink vintage wines, enjoy delicacies, or just dance? Come and join Sevilla’s 2017 La Feria de Abril, which began in the middle of the 19th century and has now turned into one of the symbols of Sevilla. During the festival, people will wear stunning national costumes to enjoy themselves in the beautiful spring by drinking wines, playing music, and dancing.

1.El Alumbrao

This year’s La Feria de Abril starts on April 30th and ends on May 6th. The real beginning of it was the 00:00 of this Monday. This night has a beautiful name El Alumbrao, Light of the Night. This Monday is usually called Lunes de Pescaíto, a food that people usually eat during the festival.

Then, in the nights after that night, people will celebrate the festival from dusk to dawn. Believe or not, even rain cannot stop the passion of the participants.

2.Las Casetas

On the site of the festival, you will see temporary sheds, which are named Las Casetas in Spanish.

There are Casetas Públicas, where you can sit down and order something to eat and drink. In this place, no matter how old or young you are, you can stand up and break out in Flamenco dance.

There are also private Casetas Privadas, which are usually rented by a family or a group of friends to hold private parties.

3.El Traje de Sevillanas

During the festival, men will all wear suits and traditional bowler hats; and women will all wear Sevilla’s featured big dresses. A hand-made suit is usually very expensive, but there is another simpler suit that is specially made for tourists. For ladies that don’t wear a dress, a flower in their hair can signal participation in the festival.

4.Coche de caballos

Either riding a horse or sitting in a horse-driven caravan is an amazing experience. You may rent a caravan with some of your friends. Not only can you hang around on the site of the festival, but you can also sit in the caravan to travel around the whole city.
