Hemingxia Valley

Hidden in the luxurious Jiugaoshan Mountains is the serene valley of Hemingxia. Many waterfalls descend from the towering cliffs along the three kilometer-long valley. Xiaotian waterfall, Baoping waterfall and Dengtian waterfall all freeze over in winter, offering a picturesque view, while in summer, the waters dash down from the steep cliff tops.

Baodu Stockaded village

Baodu Stockaded village is famous in west Henan. The ancient village community is built among the rolling Baodushan Mountains, 50 kilometers northwest of the seat of Luanchuan county. Wangniuling ridges are often shrouded with mist and rise high from the ground. The long-deserted fortifications and quaint domestic buildings offer a window into a forgotten past.

Shuanglongshan Mountain

Located south of Luoyang, the Shuanglongshan Mountain forest park covers more than 40,000 mu (2666.67 hectares) of land, 95 percent of which contains tree coverage. Many people visit Shuanglongshan Mountain for vacation, recuperation, environmental education and soft adventure activities.

Route: head east along the Luoyang-Yanshi express way, turn south to G207 national highway, exit G207 at Gaolong town and headdue south to Dakou town.

Yangzigou

Yangzigou is another scenic site in Luanchuan county and got its name from the stories of Fan Lihua, a heroic female figure in Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907).In the stories Fan was stationed with her troops and raised her son at this place. Spreading as wide as 18.8 square kilometers, the site is cradled by Funiushan mountains and Xiong'ershan mountains to its south and north, helping it maintain a stable temperature of 12.1 Celsius degrees.

Daohuigou

Located in Jiaohe township, Luanchuan county, Daohuigou forest park boasts a breathtaking landscape that has been designated by the Henan provincial government. The park is best represented by the Qingtianzhu peak, Wuzhi peaksand Dapengzhanchi peak, the tallest one in the park. Daohuigou offers luxury resorts and villas, and comfortable guesthouses.

The Baishiya scenic site is located in Shizimiao township in Luanchuan county, Luoyang. It is special for its variety of karst formations. Artfully shaped by the nature over the millennia, each chamber offers a unique sight.

Baimatan Lake

Baimatan is a beautiful lake located one kilometer away from the front gate of Longyuwan National forest park. The lake features a waterfall with a drop of more than 20 meters, creating a thunderous sound and water spray. The water runs deep and no one its exact depth as of yet.

Wanshan Lake, in Xin'an county

The lake is a major part in the Xiaolangdi dam structure, a water conservancy project built on a section of the middle reaches of Yellow River. Its water coverage reaches 168 square kilometers. Inlets, peninsulas and eyots are abundant on and around the lake.

The Yushan forest park is located next to the lake. Also in the vicinity of the lake is Lankeshan Mountain, which boasts rich Taoist culture and a queer rock exhibition hall that displays curious rocks collected in the Yellow River basin.

Qingyaoshan Mountain

The mountain is located to the northwest of Xin'an county and 66 kilometers away from Luoyang city. A newly excavated lake and a walking plank at a natural barrier add to the natural beauty around the peaks and creeks.

Longyuwan

Longyuwan National Forest Park is 30 kilometers away from Luanchuan county and is characterized by its beautiful landscape, trees, flowers and herbs of different species, and rarely seen animals. Its summer temperature does not exceed 21 Celsius degree.

May and June is the flowering time for taibai dujuan, a beautiful Chinese shrub and a rare species belonging to the Ericaceae family. These white pedaled beauties have long been growing in this valley and more than 200 plants of them are over one thousand years old. The botanical name for this shrub is Rhododendron purdomii.

Wolonggu valley

Besides ample rainfalls and mild temperatures, this forest ecosystem also benefits from primitive plantations, including more than 1400 species of plants used in traditional Chinese medicine. 200 varieties of rare birds also make their home in the valley. The site is 130 kilometers away from Luoyang city.

Longyin scenic site

As an intermountain basin, the site stands more than 800 meters above the sea level and is part of the Mt. Funiu Global Geopark. Three rivers crisscross and converge at the center of the basin to offer water supply to local residents. In the entire Ruyang county territory, more than 30 dinosaur fossils have been discovered, including the fossilized bones of the Huanghetitan, one of the biggest dinosaurs to be found in Asia.

Huaguoshan scenic site

Huaguoshan was designated as a national forest park in 1991. The locals call it shijishan. Its beauty and charm have been recorded in taiping huanyu ji, a geographic record written under the reign of Emperor Taizong of Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127).The site is 89 kilometers west of Luoyang city and is located in Muce township, Yiyang county.
