The Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations are among the largest celebrations in the world. Hogmanay is the Scots word for New Year's Eve. The celebration is focused on a major street party along Princes Street where people great each and ask friends or family members to go to each other's houses to celebrate. Since 1993, it has been evolved to a large celebration lasting for 4 days. officially organized with the focus moved to Princes Street. In 1996, over 300,000 people attended, leading to ticketing of the main street party in later years up to a limit of 100,000 tickets. There are more than 250,000 people came to the Scottish capital from around the world, the countdown together to celebrate the arrival of the new year.
