【Introduction】:Chenjiagou in Jiaozuo’s Wenxian County is the birthplace of Chinese Taiji Quan.

Chenjiagou in Jiaozuo’s Wenxian County is the birthplace of Chinese Taiji Quan. Through a life’s efforts, Chen Wangting developed Chen-style Taiji Quan based on a 108-move long first routine and combining the theories of Tuna (breathing) and Jingluo between the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty. During the historical inheritance, Chen-style Taiji Quan generated a variety of styles of Taiji Quan, such as Yang style, Wu style and Shun style. Chen-style Taiji Quan integrated wushu (martial arts) with Tuna.

In 2005, the city of Jiaozuo was named “the Land of Tai Chi” by Chinese Wushu Association. In 2006, Chen-style Taiji Quan was listed as one of the first batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritages. In 2007, Wuxian County was named as “the Birthplace of Chinese Taiji Quan” by the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Society, and a base for the research on Chinese Taiji Quan culture was set up in the county. In the same year, Wuxian County was recognized as “the Birthplace of Chinese Wushu Taiji Quan” by Chinese Wushu Association.

Nowadays, there are 200 million people worldwide learning Taiji Quan, which makes Taiji Quan the first Wushu exercise in the world.
