A new app is promising to lead you through the city and pepper the journey with delectable bites from the area’s most delicious locations.

And it all starts with Berlin.

Bitemojo is a new app that, starting in Berlin, offers an innovative way to tour a town. Essentially, you download the app and then purchase one of its various tours. From there, you and your party are off and walking to myriad restaurants and diners to try inventive bites that will power your awesome amble.

It’s now available in Berlin in the form of five tours but promises more cities around the globe in the coming months.

The following video illustrates how to use the app. Some of the cities listed in that video include London, Paris, Rome and Amsterdam. It remains to be seen if or when those locations will be added to the exciting new app.

As you see, you select where you are going and then choose from various categories to whittle down your respective journey. Options include location, mode of transportation, day of the week and food requirements.

And the cost is tourist friendly, starting at 22 euros or about $24 per person.

The app is the brainchild of founders and husband and wife Yael Weiss-Gadish and Michael Weiss whom a press release explains started with food tours in Israel before inventing an app version of the experience.

Weiss-Gadish states: “With bitemojo, we have developed the world's first digital, culinary city tour for those who want to create their own independent experiences, and come into direct contact with the local food entrepreneurs.”

The best part of the app is the autonomy that comes with self-guided tours.

Weiss-Gadish continues, “Instead of having to join a group at a fixed time and following a tour guide with a fixed schedule, our customers use the app to explore the best neighborhoods of the city and its culinary highlights all on their own."

The website has more information and descriptions of the available tours. For example, you can enjoy bites such as a Vietnamese baguette, quiche Lorraine, a mix of meat and a chocolate ice cream in a tour of Mitte.

There is one thing to note, which is that you will have to have your data running through the tour. However, the FAQ section explains: “the data capacity required for this tour is small, and you only need 3G connection, so you should not incur extensive roaming charges.”

As for the impetus to start in Berlin, it’s quite simple. Weiss explains, “Berlin is a melting pot for people from all over the world and a great climate for entrepreneurs. International influences have pushed the city to develop an incredible culinary diversity that we represent in our tours.”

The app promises the wonder of a section of the city in easily digestible portions of time – between 2.5 to four hours. And the nifty part is that you don’t need cash as the app works off credit card or PayPal accounts.

We are always looking for new and innovative ways to explore a city. And we all know that we are going to snack and nibble through the expanse of our location of choice.

Bitemojo may just be that new option that unveils the treasures of a city while filling even the most demanding of stomachs.
