Qinhuangdao Introduction

Located at the foot of Yanshan Mountain, and built on the coast of Bohai Sea, the city of Qinhuangdao borders on Liaoning Province in its east and is adjacent to Beijing and Tianjin in its west. Under the jurisdiction of Qinhuangdao Municipality, there are four urban districts namely Haigang District, Shanhaiguan District, Beidaihe District and Funing District, three rural countries namely Changli County, Lulong County and Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County, and two economic areas namely Qinhuangdao Economic and Technological Development Zone and Beidaihe New Area.

The city spans over a land area of 7,802 km², sea area of 1,805 km², with a permanent population of 3.11 million. As a coastal city which is richly endowed by nature, the historical heritage and the modern civilization complement each other perfectly, creating a unique and graceful charm of Qinhuangdao.

Qinhuangdao is a city with abundant historical and cultural heritage. Qinhuangdao was called “Jieshi” in ancient times. The city was named after the eastern tour of Emperor Qin Shihuang in 215 B.C.. It is the only city in China named after an emperor. The infiltration of more than 2,000 years of history has left a rich cultural treasure here. From the ancient story of Bo Yi and Shu Qi, persevering their moral integrity to General Qi Jiguang’s story of defending the country. From Emperor Weiwu’s (Cao Cao) enthusiastic poem of "Guan Cang Hai" to Mao Zedong's magnificent poem of "Langtaosha·Beidaihe". Throughout the ages, countless heroes have given Qinhuangdao a thousand years of culture, a precious heritage and a profound historical memory.

Qinhuangdao is a tourism city with precious resources. The city is rich in tourism resources such as mountains, seas, forts, towns, hot springs, wetlands, and old villas. The 162.7-kilometer coastline runs smoothly along the city boundary, and the 223-kilometer ancient Great Wall traverses east and west. The blue sky and green land is interspersed with sea and golden sand, and the forest coverage rate exceeds 51%. More than 500 species of birds live and multiply here, attracting more than 50 million visitors each year. The 2000-year dream of seeking immortality has now evolved into the people's pursuit of a better life. While building a first-class international tourism city, Qinhuangdao is taking the National Beidaihe Life and Health Industry Innovation Demonstration Zone as a carrier to actively absorb international and domestic advanced medical and health-related resources, to build a five-in-one health industry pattern which combines “medical, medicine, recuperation, health care and tourism”, making Qinhuangdao a city that represents “healthy, longevity and happiness”.

Qinhuangdao is a vibrant city of innovation and development. In recent years, Qinhuangdao takes the “all-in-one” tourism as the most important task in promoting the transformation and upgrading of the tourism industry,  integrated development of Beijing, Tianjin municipalities and Hebei Province and building a first-class international tourism city. We strive to achieve new breakthroughs in tourism development patterns. With the 2^ndHebei Provincial Tourism Industry Development Forum held in 2017, we opened the Shanhai Tourism Railway, which enriches “all-in-one” tourism by connecting mountains and oceans by trains. We also cultivated six major tourism products, such as “seaside resort, maritime entertainment, recreation and health, mountain ecology, cultural experience, and wine leisure”. It extends from the coastal line to the whole city and extends from the one season to the four seasons to meet the increasingly diverse tourist needs of tourists.
