Go early

Most of the attractions in Dalian closed early; some of them may even close at 4 pm, so visitors need to schedule the time reasonably.

See the sunrise

The sites for seeing sunrise in Dalian lie in the Eastern of Binhai road. The best spots are the viewing deck and Human face cliff in Shicao scenic region. Also the road between Haizhiyun Park and Bangchun Island are the ideal locations. People need to get up and start off early to see the sunrise. There are no buses that can take you to the viewing spots, and it is difficult to take taxis. Self-driving will be more convenient.

Swimming time

The swimming time is from July to the late August, which is summer in Dalian. The water temperature generally will be between 20-23℃. During winter, swimming enthusiasts will go to beaches including Xinghaiwan, Fujiazhuang, Jinshitan, Jinshatan etc.

Be careful when getting on and off the tram

Dalian’s tram is rather old and runs in the center of streets. When getting on or off the tram, visitors need be careful and look both ways in order to avoid getting hit by cars.

Seafood

The ideal time for enjoying seafood in Dalian is September. In July and August, Dalian’s government will forbid going to sea, the seafood during this period can be expensive.

Beaches

Dalian has plenty of beaches. However, the depths and water conditions are distinctive due to the different locations. Visitors need to pay attention to the spring tide when planning to go to swim.

Watch out for jellyfish

The number of jellyfish will increase in August. It is a good idea to prepare some alum or soap water in case you get stung.
