Since July 1st, 2006, Latvia had implemented the new Declaration System of Entry and Exit, people who come in and out from the customs and border carrying more than 10,000 euro in cash are required to submit a declaration, references to the cash are to be stated which includes paper money, coins, checks, promissory notes and other financial instruments. The following items are prohibited by Latvia Customs:

- All kinds of military weapons, spare parts, ammunition, explosives and other similar items, and special chemicals (except canned tear gas);

- All kinds of erotica items;

- Alcohol.
