Duan Qiang, chairman of Beijing Tourism Group said on March 10, Universal Studios Theme Park located in the Tongzhou District of Beijing is expected to start construction in the second half of this year and be put into use in 2020, which may become the world's largest Universal Studios theme park.

Duan Jiang said that the Universal Studios project is divided into three phases: the first phase is the Universal Studios theme park bringing in theme recreation projects by Universal Pictures, the second is the Chinese theme park, planning to introduce Sun Wukong and other domestic classic themes and the third phase will consider the construction of a water park. The first is to start building the Universal Studios theme park, which is expected to start in the second half of this year.

Duan Jiang also said that the Universal Studios Theme Park and resort plans to cover an area of 4 square kilometers; the future number of tourists every year is expected to reach more than 10 million, while creating tens of thousands of jobs.
