The year-end shopping season has come and many customers wonder how to enjoy the highest discounts available at overseas merchants. It is learnt from UnionPay International that its cross-border marketing platform, U Plan, has reached comprehensive cooperation with Dianping.com today. Within this year, more cross-border service providers in finance, tourism and retail will join the platform. Customers are able to get exclusive coupons via the official websites or mobile apps of UnionPay International, Dianping.com and other partners to enjoy the highest discounts available at the participating merchants.

As the world’s first open cross-border marketing service platform launched by a bankcard organization, U Plan, adopting emerging mobile Internet technologies, realizes locating service, precision marketing and instant discount for cross-border consumption. After getting the exclusive QR code coupons, customers can present the coupon at the participating merchants overseas and pay with UnionPay cards to enjoy instant discounts as high as 30% off. Since this July, about one million coupons have been downloaded, and U Plan’s user community is growing rapidly. This contributes to the remarkable increase in UnionPay transaction volume at the participating merchants.

Now, more than 300 stores in Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand and Singapore have joined U Plan. These merchants include Sasa, Prince Jewellery & Watch, Lukfook Jewellery and ISA in Hong Kong, KingPower Duty Free in Thailand, and all the stores of Michael Kors, Victoria Secrets, kate spade new york, TUMI and Bath&Body Works subordinate to Valiram Group in Singapore. Customers are able to get the coupons from the apps of UnionPay International, BOC, CYTS and other participating banks, travel agencies and airlines.

Dianping.com is the first life information and transaction platform that has joined U Plan. It has covered 14.81 million overseas merchants across 213 countries and regions, and provides guides for consumers. About 600 million consumers search for merchant information via Dianping.com before and during their travels. The aim of this cooperation is to accurately provide these consumers with coupons that can be used in their destinations, and thus substantially improve cardholders’ card-using experiences.

Based on the location of U Plan participating merchants, Dianping.com first set U Plan sections at four of its websites, namely Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and Phuket Island. Consumers can get exclusive coupons from the “UnionPay Discount” and the “Offers” sections of these four sites. Next, the Chinese tourists will receive recommended U Plan merchant information sent by the Dianping.com app when they use the app on their trips.

It is expected that China Construction Bank, Bank of Communications, China CITIC Bank, China Everbright Bank, China Eastern Airlines and Uroaming will join U Plan soon. A number of well-known merchants in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the US and Australia will offer the highest discounts to UnionPay cardholders via U Plan.

Moreover, China Merchants Bank also offers additional discounts for U Plan. Within this year, cardholders with UnionPay credit cards (card number starting with 62) issued by the Bank are able to enjoy a discount of 35 yuan for every 100 yuan when using U Plan coupons at SaSa in Hong Kong and Macau.
