About 100 Merchants in Macau Launch Exclusive Privileges for UnionPay

Christmas and the New Year are approaching. UnionPay International announced today that it launches a large-scale marketing campaign in Macau. From now to the end of this year, customers may enjoy exclusive discounts of up to 20%-off for UnionPay at about 100 most popular restaurants, hotels, entertainment establishments and retailers.

Almost all the ATMs and merchants with POS terminals in Macau accept UnionPay, and most of the merchants that support contactless payment accept UnionPay mobile QuickPass. Customers are able to pay with QuickPass-enabled mobile phones. Meanwhile, 1.8 million UnionPay cards have been issued accumulatively in Macau. Considering the local population, this means that every Macau resident has over 3 UnionPay cards. These residents frequently use UnionPay cards in their daily life.

This marketing campaign launched in Macau has two features. Firstly, it covers merchants of various types, including retail, accommodation, food and beverage, as well as entertainment. The participating merchants include New Yaohan, Mannings, Landmark Plaza restaurants, Warner Bros Fun Zone, Studio City and Dancing Water. Local residents, free independent travelers and tourists traveling with families may all enjoy exclusive privileges. Secondly, more than 10 featured restaurants, cafes and specialty stores in the popular food streets like Rua da Cunha and Rua do Regedor offer exclusive privileges for UnionPay cards. These merchants include the popular Koi Kei Bakery, Yeng Kee Bakery and Choi Heong Yuen Bakery.

With the optimization of UnionPay service system in Macau, UnionPay International is also accelerating the launch of innovative products and services in the market. In August this year, UnionPay International issued in Macau HCE mobile QuickPass, which is the first mobile credit card product issued in Macau. With this product, cardholders with UnionPay cards (card number starting with 62) issued by ICBC (Macau) are able to use the secure and convenient mobile QuickPass to pay with mobile phones.
