Hong Kong Airlines was awarded the 2016 Social Capital Builder Logo Awards in the biennial Social Capital Builder Award Presentation Ceremony on 6 January 2017 to recognize the company’s outstanding contributions to the development of social capital.
Social Capital is essential for the economic prosperity and sustainable development of a society. It helps build a caring society of mutual trust and solidarity, and enhances mutual support among individuals, families and organizations so that the community can grow from strength to strength. Hong Kong Airlines has been cooperating with charitable and social services organizations since 2014 and has established close relationships with them. The company is actively expanding the social network and promoting various corporate social responsibility initiatives, including the well-received education activities “Embrace the World” Student Sponsorship Programme and “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme, etc.
Ms Ming Chan, General Manager, Corporate Communications of Hong Kong Airlines received the award on behalf of the company. “We are delighted to receive recognition on our corporate social responsibility initiatives, which we have been actively nurturing the younger generation of their interest in aviation, protecting the environment and promoting sustainable growth as well as our care for the community and staff. In future, we will continue leveraging on our resources and advantages to promote a caring and positive society,” remarked Ms Chan.
Community Investment and Inclusion Fund was set up by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2002 to implement diversified social capital development projects in the community, promote reciprocity between the public and different sectors, and build together a cross-sector collaborative platform and mutual help network. To accord recognition to individuals, enterprises and organizations which have contributed to the development of social capital in Hong Kong, and to commend outstanding CIIF-funded projects, the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund of the Labour and Welfare Bureau has organized the biennial SCB Awards since 2012.
