Thanks to industry-leading technology in big data and artificial intelligence, Mobike is modernizing urban transportation, assisting local municipalities and operating with greater efficiency than ever before.

As a bike-sharing company focused on providing greener transportation to the masses, we want to make sure Mobikes are easily accessible across Mobike cities. To do so, we make use of the 30 terabytes of data generated via our smart lock technology. The Mobike ‘Magic Cube’ artificial intelligence platform interprets this information and helps us to effectively distribute Mobikes to areas of high use.

“We are very proud of our ability to harness big data, which is enabling us to balance the supply and demand for Mobikes in urban areas.” Zheng Ji, Mobike Data

In addition to facilitating commutes, and rides for over 200 million users across 180 global cities, our AI and big data platform is providing pivotal information for Mobike cities building cycling infrastructure. When considering investing in bike lanes, special parking areas or other bicycle-friendly projects, local municipalities have benefitted immensely from the knowledge we provide them regarding the routes and destinations that are most popular among cyclists. The Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning and Design has begun using our data to conduct it’s first-ever evidence-based research on the construction of future bike lanes.

Additionally, the Mobike AI and data advancements provide the ability to quantify the positive impact of the Mobike smart bike-share scheme around the globe. This past May, we used our ride-generated data to complete joint research with Tsinghua University’s China New Urbanization Research Institute. The project’s white paper study indicated that cycling has become twice as popular within a year of Mobike’s introduction to Chinese cities. As a result, our users reported making 55% fewer trips by car than they did prior to using our bikes.

We are constantly adapting our technology to urban needs and thrilled at the lasting impact Mobike is delivering to our world’s cities.
