On May 1st Israel gained its first smart bikeshare service in collaboration with Tel Aviv University (TAU). With exclusive operations, Mobike is now available on TAU’s campus.
Mobike Israel has signed an agreement with The Economic Company of Tel Aviv University "Nehes" to be the sole operator of dockless bikeshare services on the campus. Mobike will be the first company to offer smart bike service in Tel Aviv. The service was launched during a special ceremony on Workers Day, May 1st.
TAU is the largest university in Israel with over 30,000 students, has the largest campus area, and is the highest ranked Israeli university globally. TAU will receive the iconic classic Mobike that incorporates the innovative design and functionality with high-tech features. Including the world’s first ‘Internet of Things’ connected smart lock with integrated GPS, a chainless shaft transmission, non-puncture airless tires, lightweight aluminum anti-rust frame, enhanced and durable disk-brakes, and an auto-inspired five-spoke wheel.
Yuval Reisman, President of Mobike Israel, said:
"We are delighted to bring smart dockless bikesharing to Israel for the first time at Tel Aviv University. Having lived in China for the past years, the Mobike revolution has significantly upgraded my day-to-day life. As a TAU Alum, I wish we had had Mobike back when I was a student. The service will allow students to save time over the long walks between their activities all over campus. We are very excited to bring the bike share revolution- a made-in-China innovation- to Israel, the Startup Nation.”
Simply register on the Mobike app to join the Movement that allows you access to shared bikes in over 200 cities in 16 countries around the world. We’re already planning a number of exciting new promotions and are collaborating with local officials to bring the service to other cities across Israel this year.
Rom Tene, Chairman of Tel Aviv Student Union said:
"It is no secret that Israel is lacking public transportation solutions, more so in crowded Tel Aviv. Therefore, as the Student Union, we try all the time to provide the students with creative and inexpensive transportation solutions. In that sense- Mobike is the ideal solution. I'm positive that once launched, Mobike service will make the students life easier and more fun, inside and outside the campus."
