Hong Kong Airlines welcomes the promulgation of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on 18 February 2019, which sets out the guiding directions in consolidating and enhancing Hong Kong's status as an international aviation hub.
As one of the fastest growing home carriers in the Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong Airlines is proud to operate from Hong Kong International Airport, one of the greatest aviation hubs and global logistics centres in the world. Its current intermodal partnership with TurboJET and Chu Kong Shipping ferry services have enhanced Hong Kong Airlines’ connections to the Pearl River Delta region and provide travellers with convenient transfer experience and seamless connectivity between the Greater Bay cities and the rest of the world via Hong Kong. The liberalization of the intermodal services from the Greater Bay Area to all cities in mainland in the future will also extend Hong Kong Airlines’ reach to more mainland cities and open up more new commercial opportunities. To explore new revenue-generating channels, Hong Kong Airlines has set up a Greater Bay Area Office to support the development of this important economic driver.
Hong Kong Airlines also welcomes the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Transport and Housing Bureau and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in Beijing today for the expansion of traffic rights pool capacity for Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, which provides Hong Kong Airlines opportunities to open more slots for its Shanghai services.
Hong Kong Airlines will continue to work very closely with all key stakeholders to support the Greater Bay Area initiatives related to aviation and contribute to the economic development in Hong Kong as a whole.
