Sanya Opens Twice Daily Public Sea Transport to West Island

To offer more marine tourism options for local residents and tourists, a seacoast water bus tour route linking downtown Sanya and West Island commenced operations on April 1st, 2018.

The water bus route is operated by the cruiser “Hai Kun Hao.” The cruiser runs twice daily, departing from Luhuitou Wharf at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tickets are set at RMB 138 per person, including the entrance fee for West Island. The trip takes about 35 minutes.

West Island is the third transportation hub on the sea water route along Sanya’s western coast, following Tianya Haijiao Scenic Spot and the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone.

The sea water bus tour not only provides an enjoyable alternative to buses or taxis when traveling between destinations that are near the water; it also allows tourists to enjoy beautiful scenic views of the Sanya Port, Luhuitou Peninsula, East Island, and Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal.

West Island is perhaps the place in Sanya that best embodies the city’s unique blend of tourism and culture. The scenic spot is famous for its picturesque tropical scenery, and has been home to fishing tribes for generations.

In recent years, the island operator has worked to upgrade the island’s tourism facilities and diversify its tourist products, with an aim of developing the island to the standards of a 5A scenic spot. They believe that the launch of the water bus service will make accessing the island far more convenient for tourists and residents alike.
