Sanya was ranked the most popular domestic tourist destination during the three-day 2018 Qingming Festival holiday, according to statistics released by mafengwo.com, an online travel portal.
According to statistics released by the Sanya Tourism Development Commission, Sanya received a total of 163,400 visitors during the three-day holiday, up 9.52 percent year-on-year. Tourism revenue reached RMB 520 million, a year-on-year increase of 12.07 percent.
Domestic and international tourist arrivals
The top five source provinces or cities for domestic visitors to Sanya were Beijing, Shanghai, Sichuan, Guangdong, and Chongqing.
As for tourist arrivals from overseas countries and regions, the top five sources were Russia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Germany, and Cambodia.
Hotel Room Occupancy Rate
The hotel room occupancy rate across the city averaged 68.62 percent, the same level as last year (accounting for the fact that the number of hotel rooms across the city has increased 1.72 percent year-on-year).
The average hotel room rate in the Yalong Bay area stood at RMB 1,245; in the Haitang Bay area the figure was RMB 856; it was RMB 428 in the Sanya Bay area, RMB 449 in the Dadonghai area, and RMB 273 in the downtown area.
The average hotel occupancy rate was 83.79 percent in the Yalong Bay area, 79.55 percent in the Haitang Bay area, 63.23 percent in the Sanya Bay area, 71.11 percent in the Dadonghai area, and 56.01 percent in the downtown area.
Tourist arrivals at eight scenic spots
Sanya’s eight major scenic spots received 199,100 visitors during the holiday period, a year-on-year increase of 9.53 percent. Statistics for the eight spots are as follows: Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone received 38,800 visitors; Dongtian Park received 6,900 visitors; Wuzhizhou Island received 22,500 visitors; Tianya Haijiao Scenic Spot received 33,800 visitors; Yalong Bay Tropical Forest Park received 19,400 visitors; West Island received 8,900 visitors; Luhuitou Park received 9,700 visitors; and Sanya Romance Park received 59,100 visitors.
Tourist Spending
Per-capita consumption by overnight visitors was RMB 1,410.4 per day during the holiday, and per-capita consumption by one-day visitors reached RMB 504.06.
Air & Rail Passenger Throughput
During the holiday, the city handled 280,600 passengers, a drop of 0.71 percent year on year. The Sanya Phoenix International Airport and Sanya Railway Station served as points of transit for 151,800 and 128,800 passengers, respectively.
