Spring Overseas Visitor Welcome Week 2018 Kicks Off, Expecting More Chinese Visitors

According to Aju Business Daily, “Spring Overseas Visitor Welcome Week 2018” which is hosted by the city of Seoul and Seoul tourism association was grandly held on the 25th of April. The Welcome Week will be held until the 5th of May.

The event was held during China's Labour Day holiday and Japan's Golden Week. To welcome visitors from China and Japan, Seoul set up Welcome Centers in scenic spots such as Myeongdong, Namsan, Hongdae, Cheonggyecheon and GangnamCOEX. The Centers not only offers special traffic cards, but also baggage check-in, translating, photo taking services, etc.

Notably, the Cheonggyecheon Square Welcome Center offers wonderful performances such as fashion shows, taekwondo and so on.

The Director of South Korea's Visiting Committee Administration for Affairs Department said, “Since the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics was held, overseas visitors to Korea has been constantly growing. The Welcome Week will further attract overseas tourists to South Korea for tourism and consumption.”

South Korea's visiting committee, city of Seoul and Seoul city tourism association began hosting Welcome Week since 2014. According to statistics, the Spring Welcome Week and Autumn Welcome Week, which were held in the previous year, draw 85 thousand visitors in total.
