Sanya Sets up Organic Farm Produce Stalls at Major Tourist Spots

In order to boost efforts at alleviating regional poverty, local farm produce exhibition stalls are being set up at three major scenic spots in Sanya: Tianya Haijiao Scenic Spot, Wuzhizhou Island, and Dongtian Park.

The initiative is part of the government’s poverty alleviation program. The program seeks to link urban and rural projects, and create a sales networking platform for local farmers.

Local officials hope the new agricultural trade model will help boost local farmers’ income by introducing poverty-alleviating agricultural projects in cooperation with leisure tourism. According to the plan, organic agricultural products exhibition stalls will be set up at more scenic spots across the city.

At the stalls, domestic and international visitors can buy local organic produce at farm-to-table prices. Products will include passionfruit from Nashou Village, honey from Bao’an Village, lotus from Baolong Village, bananas from Yalin Village, Zhegu Tea from Longmi Village, peppers and sweet potatoes from Yaliang Village, and more.

Tourists will be able to purchase those agricultural products alongside other souvenirs and travel-related gifts while they enjoy sightseeing tours.
