Sanya Attends 8th TPO Forum in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The 2018 8th Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO) Forum was held from June 21st to 22nd, 2018, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Mr. Tang Sixian, Consulting Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission, represented Sanya at the forum.

This year, the biennial forum’s theme was “Smart Tourism.” As many as 300 delegates from more than 20 member cities shared their experiences about smart tourism at the forum.

During the forum, Mr. Tang Sixian gave presentations about Sanya’s smart tourism promotions and services, highlighting the island province’s visa-free travel policy for visitors from 59 countries, digital pricing control systemsfor monitoring the seafood market, and the use of new technologies and artificial intelligence to better service international tourists.

Mr. Tang explained that Sanya, as an international tourist resort city, is dedicated to providing global tourists a sound and safe tourism environment and services at a high standard of quality.

On June 21st, the 31st TPO Executive Committee Meeting and the TPO Bilateral Meeting were held during the event. Mr. Tang took the chance to promote the city’s tourism industry while strengthening cooperation with other member cities of TPO.

At the awards ceremony, Sanya was honored with ‘‘The Best Website” Award in recognition of the city’s valuable contributions to tourism development in the Asia Pacific region.

The Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asia Pacific Cities, with 86 member cities and 46 industry members from 10 countries and territories as of the end of 2017, is an international organization established in 2002 to promote exchange and development of the tourism industry in major cities in the Asia Pacific region.
