Sanya has taken the top spot among the top 15 most popular domestic destinations in China for summer vacation, according to a big data forecast report released by the China Tourism Academy and the Ctrip Tourism Big Data Joint Laboratory on June 29th, 2018.
Beijing, Guilin, Kunming, Xiamen, Lijiang, Zhangjiajie, Guiyang, Lanzhou, Xi’an, Chengdu, Urumqi, Shanghai, Xining, and Qingdao were the other fourteen cities on the list.
The report offers tourism figures and rankings for the upcoming summer vacation. Bookings of tours to islands, mountains, and grasslands will also be continuously high.
According to the report, Hainan ranks first among popular provinces in trans-provincial travel projections for this summer vacation. After Hainan, the other most popular provinces and autonomous regions include Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Hunan, and Fujian.
A survey of travel intentions conducted by the China Tourism Academy showed that 86.4 percent of people are planning to travel in the third quarter, and that August might see the highest numbers of travel as people try to escape the heat of their home regions.
Per capita tourism consumption during the summer vacation is expected to reach RMB 4,000, an increase of 15 percent over the same period last year.
