3D Printing Industry Leading Enterprise SLM Solutions

Hamburg Liaison Office China once helped SLM Solutions, a leading enterprise in the 3D printing industry from Lubeck, build their overseas company in Shanghai. During the SMM Hamburg 2018, we will invite our partners to communicate and cooperate with the company. Five activities will be held respectively at B 6.5 and B 5.2 from Sept. 6 to 7.

l-d 3D Printing - how the maritime industry can benefit from the automotive experiences

Ralf Frohwerk, SLM Solutions

04. September, Tuesday, 11:00 - 11:30

Room B6.5.

Mr. Frohwerk will give an overview of l d additive manufacturing and the chances the technology offers to the maritime industry. Having thorough experience in the automotive industry he will focus on important aspects that are of high importance to the maritime world.

The Lübeck- d SLM Solutions Group AG is a leading provider of l d additive manufacturing technology. SLM Solutions focuses on the development, assembly and sale of machines and integrated system solutions in the field of selective laser melting.

Additive manufacturing with arc and wire (3DMP®) - actual status and potentials of a promising technology for maritime applications

Marcus Ortloff, Gefertec GmbH

04. September, Tuesday, 15:30 - 16:00

Room B6.5.

The 3DMP® process is the first additive process ever to enable simple components to be produced economically - even in direct comparison with conventional machining methods. The 5-axis processing provides a variety of geometric freedoms, such as the realization of cavities, which make it possible to reduce the weight of components.

The wide range of materials by using the 3DMP® process opens up completely new possibilities for the production of components for maritime applications.

06. September, Thursday,14:00 - 14:30

Room B5.2.

MMG – 3D print in large scale

Dr. Lars Greitsch, Mecklenburger llguss GmbH

06. September, Thursday, 14:30 - 15:00

Room B5.2.

MMG is one of the first companies in the maritime industry that uses additive manufacturing to support their production processes for tailor-made marine propeller. In order to prepare the casting of these small batch series, each propeller type needs accurate pattern equipment. MMG has recently started to print the pattern equipment using additive manufacturing. Due to the size of these parts special 3D-printing in large scale is necessary. Dr. Greitsch introduces you to their approach of printing in large scale.

Shape optimization for 3D Printing – Is the outcome worth the effort?

Dr. Marco Göttsche, S.M.I.L.E.-FEM GmbH

06. September, Thursday, 15:30 - 16:00

Room B5.2.

Additive manufacturing is one of the most promising novel technologies within the industry 4.0. Apart from other advantages, it allows the designer to create entirely new shapes for technical applications. These innovative solutions for existing technical applications can be found by using Finite Element Simulation and shape optimization.

In this presentation, I want to show the potential of the optimization by means of a demo case. Furthermore, I want to discuss if the outcome is always worth effort of the optimization or if there are more effective alternatives being suitable for industrial usage.
