The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal stretches 184.5 miles from Georgetown to Cumberland, MD. Mule-drawn boat trips available (April-Oct.). Wide towpaths open to bikers, joggers and hikers. The main entrance, visitor center and coach parking at Great Falls (MD).

Admission: $5 per car. Contact park for additional fee admissions. Price can vary.Georgetown Visitor Center is open 9:30 am -4:30 pm, Wednesday - Sunday, April - October. The National Park Service invites you to travel back to the 1870s on a mule-drawn canal boat! Hear the stories of those who lived and worked on the C&O Canal, follow in the footsteps of the mules who pulled the canal boats, and ride through a 19th century lift lock. One-hour round-trip excursions depart from Washington DC and Great Falls MD. Call ahead for current schedule. Tickets are $5 for visitors age 4 and up (those younger ride for free). Groups of 10 or more people may make advance reservations by phone.
