Introduction

Hulishan Fortress was built in the 20th year of the Guangxu Period during the Qing Dynasty and covers an area of over 70,000 square meters. The castle covers an area of 13,000 square meters. The “King of Cannons” was purchased from the German company of Krupp and was listed in the “2000 Guinness Book of World Records” as the oldest and largest coastal cannon of the 19th century still to be kept at its original site. It is 13.13 meters long, weighs 50 tons, can rotate 360 degrees and has an effective shooting range of 16,000 meters. Highlights include: 280 millimeters Krupp Cannon, barracks statue figurine gallery, wall of history, Krupp Cannonball display area, cannon loading and firing demonstration room, gallery on the sinking of Japanese ships, “Tiemo” steel cannon display area, Hongyi firecracker area and real live demonstrations.

How to get there

It is reachable by alighting at Hulishan Station or Baicheng Station on Bus Routes: 22, 29, 35, 47, 48, 86, 87, 96, 501, 503, 520, 531, 616, 618, 809, 812, Xia 2, Xia 20 and Xia 59 and then walking forward 100 meters.
