Jiezi Ancient Town is a National 4A level tourist attraction with a long history and rich culture, which it has gained over one thousand years.

During the Five Dynasties and Ten States (907-960) period, it was called 'Hengqu (transverse channel) Town', while at the time of the Later Shu (221–263), it was named Yongkang county.

After several periods in history, there was only a street near the river left in the town in 1614, and the town was renamed into“Jiezichang”, meaning the street. Now, when many people are seeking a peaceful place close to nature and old traditions, the charm and old glory of this ancient town start to appeal.

Jiezi Ancient Town is a charming and ingenious water town in the west of Sichuan, with two mountains surrounding it, and two rivers embracing it. The mountains and rivers well complement each other in the town’s scenery.

Because of the river, the ancient town used to have a very good businesses relationship with the outside. It was also considered an important channel of Sino-Tibetan communication. The prosperity of the ancient town, including its famous Yongkang tea, was recorded in many reference works.

Historical sites left from ancient times are everywhere to be seen in the town – for example, the tone Tower for Character Files, Erigeron Nest, Yulong Bridge, Qixian Caves, and Old Temple in Fengqi Mountain.

There is an ancient temple known as Guangyan Buddhist Hall (Ancient Temple) hidden deeply in Fengqi Mountain, one of the thirty-six peaks in the Qingcheng mountain range. The temple was favored by the royal families of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is called 'First Heaven in the West of Sichuan'. Moreover, there is an annual ancient temple fair, handed down from generation to generation, which still continues to the present day.

The town had a rich culture of literature in the past, and attracted several celebrity poets, including Tu Fu, Lu You and Yin Changheng. Tang Qiusheng, a poet in the late Tang Dynasty, settled in the town. He became famous and 35 poems of his were later included in the prestigious book: "Full Collection of Tang Poems". The Orchid flower usually reminds people of an elegant and educated gentleman in Chinese culture. The annual Orchid Festival held by the town attracts many tourists and people nearby, and features orchids in every household and at every street corner.
