De Bijenkorf is a true institution of fashion and style. Defining taste and setting trends since 1870, this department store now stands in an enviable location on Amsterdam's Dam Square.

An institution for fashion and designer brands

De Bijenkorf now has locations around the Netherlands, but the Amsterdam flagship store remains its premiere location with the greatest selection of designer brands. De Bijenkorf is the definition of luxury shopping, offering hundreds of major Dutch and international brands. Armani, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Diesel, Fendi, G-Star RAW, Louis Vuitton, Mark Jacobs and Paul Frank are just a few of the designer labels you can expect to find here. But it's not only fashion. In addition to clothing, handbags, shoes and accessories, de Bijenkorf is also known for its high-quality housewares, luggage, gifts, electronics, cosmetics and more. If you're overwhelmed by the amazing selection, you can take advantage of their personal shopper service. It's also worth noting that Tax Free shopping is available for all non-EU residents. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the entire store.

Culinary delights

After hours of shopping, treat yourself to a meal, snack or delicious cup of coffee. The Amsterdam location has a bakery on site and the chocolate truffle cake will delight anyone with a sweet tooth. On the first floor you'll find Café B, the perfect spot to relax with a cup of fair trade coffee or for a light lunch. On the fifth floor, fresh food is prepared to order, all featuring top-quality ingredients and a range of cuisines.

Rich history

De Bijenkorf was first opened in 1870 on the Nieuwendijk as a shop for sewing supplies. By 1912, the store moved to the Dam. The new location proved a great success, and the owners decided to turn it into a grand department store. Architect J.A. van Straaten was appointed to design the magnificent new building and it was declared a national monument in 2001. De Bijenkorf became part of the prestigious Selfridges Group in 2011.
