On the way down to Galveston, swing by the Bayou Wildlife Park to get up close and personal with animals from across the globe. Located in Alvin, the exotic animal paradise is home to over 60 species of wildlife and more than 500 animals and birds in total.

Experience wildlife like never before on a guided tram tour. Passengers are driven through 86 acres of natural habitat where they safely encounter the free roaming animals and birds of the park. Don’t be surprised if a camel walks right up to the tram—he’s probably just looking for the bucket of food you brought along. Be on the lookout for some of the endangered species in the park such as the Ring Tail Lemur, White Rhino and Addax. Also check out the alligator ponds and three monkey ponds.

Make a day of it and bring your own lunch to eat at one of the picnic tables. Afterwards, head over to the petting zoo with the kids or ride a pony.

The Bayou Wildlife Park is fun for all ages and is excellent for birthday parties or school field trips.
