Daein traditional market located in downtown had a lot of effective values when Chungjangno Street and Geumnamno Street were the center of the CBD. People who go to downtown could go to the market easily. Diverse vegetables grown over the country, fish and dried goods were the representative goods which made the market so popular. Bulk purchase for anchovies and Alaskan pollacks were sold at the market. Being introduced as the agricultural cooperative's joint market, the market was also popular for the wholesale of fresh fruit in 1965.

The market was called both markets with Yangdong market when the public bus terminal was introduced in 1976 there were many ups and downs. During the recession it had troubles because of the terminal's transfer. Even now, Daein market has a lot of transaction of fish, dried goods and aquatic products as a warehouse of fish and vegetables. These days, restaurants specializing in sliced raw fish are popular. Many stores for nickel silverware, fabrics of linen and cotton and Western-style apparel and accessories are also representative at the market. Stores for abundant salted fish are located near the rice dealers. People who still have sentiments for the market enjoy going to the street vendors there to buy goods from their country.
