Traditional street parties in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is a city which seriously likes to party, with plenty of street parties taking place right through the year. Some of the parties are sponsored by big names, while others benefit from government funding - however they are mostly free to join in – and feature excellent entertainment – plus there’s always a bar or two available to help keep the party going all day long.

Purim Parties

The famous Tel Aviv Purim Street Party took place this year on March 9 in Shaul Ha’melech Boulevard and Museum Square, outside the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. The party, which kicked off at 12pm featured performances from top musicians, and attracted thousands of party-goers. Florentine Tel Aviv Street Party is another annual street party which takes over the entire neighborhood during springtime, with a host of exciting entertainment on five stages, including live shows. The bars in the area stay open all night long; ensuring revelers stay on to party into the early hours.

Independence Day Parties

During Israel’s Independence Day, celebrations the Florentine district in south Tel Aviv, Rothschild Boulevard to Jaffa is blocked off to cars, so its pedestrians only. Speakers flood the streets which are essentially turned into outdoor clubs. People of all ages join in the partying from parents with small babies to teens – even some elderly folk. Rothschild Boulevard in particular hosted a free street party in February which featured top DJs playing indie, reggae, and electronic music from two stages. An urban fashion market and impromptu stalls added to the festivities which kicked off at midday.
