Tel Aviv Beachfront Eateries You Just Don’t Want to Miss

You’ll never go hungry at the beach, but if you’re looking for something truly exceptional, the following options will certainly do the trick.

Tel Aviv has recently seen the addition of a new restaurant, Cassis, which invites guests to dine on a stone plaza just a couple of feet above the bay at Givat Aliyah Beach. Diners can take in beautiful views of the sea and a natural reef.

The water front restaurant which opened last year, features a Californian inspired menu, with seafood a specialty - as illustrated by the motto which is etched in the glass over the open kitchen – ‘taste the sea’. Fried calamari and whitefish ceviche along with a Mexican breakfast are on offer in dishes which owners husband and wife team Ayalat and Nir Perry describe as ‘simple and right’.

Also on the beachfront, Manta Ray is an established and highly popular beachfront bistro which offers a Mediterranean menu – and, even though it doesn’t offer the option of eating outdoors the views are to die for.

For classic Mediterranean dishes of mezze, pasta, seafood and fish – as well as delicious stone baked focaccia - Fortuna del Mar at Tel Aviv Marina is the place to head for. The restaurant bar is situated between the marina and the Carlton hotel, and offers diners the opportunity to eat in a relaxed atmosphere, while enjoying the backdrop of sailing boats and stunning sunsets.

Head Portside

Another beachfront place which offers a great breakfast is Gilly’s, located in the port, which features a sea side terrace where diners can sit and take in the sea air. The breakfasts are large – perfect for sharing in fact – and you can even order a champagne cocktail to accompany it. Also located at Tel Aviv Port is Mul Yam (voted fanciest Tel Aviv restaurant 2011) an upscale eatery which attracts a trendy crowd. There’s the option to eat ‘al fresco’ from a menu featuring fresh seafood. If your budget won’t stretch to fine dining Shalvata is an excellent café situated close by.

Dining out in Old Jaffa

At Goldman’s Court you can enjoy a full breakfast accompanied by a morning cocktail while taking in the stunning backdrop of Jaffa’s boardwalk. Later dining options include fresh seafood, salads, and pasta dishes all served with a Mediterranean twist, and made from the freshest ingredients.

Also located in Jaffa, on a small cliff overlooking the sea, is The Old Man and the Sea restaurant (Hazaken Vehayam) which specializes in fish dishes. The spacious and popular dining establishment is renowned for its attentive service, long tables, and open style dining, which make it an ideal option for families, groups and couples.
