The largest shopping centre in the Nordic countries, Itis was built in three stages. The first part was completed in autumn 1984 and an extension in September 1992. The opening of the Piazza in September 2001 brought Itis to its current size. Until early 2012, the shopping centre was named Itäkeskus. It was renamed Itis in March 2012 together with the launch of a complete overhaul of the shopping centre, scheduled for completion in 2014. There are more than 120 shops, 15 restaurants, two department stores and about 30 offices in the shopping centre.
