St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library

The St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library is the National Library of Republic of Bulgaria. It is the biggest greatest library in the country and the oldest cultural institute after the Liberation of Bulgaria.

The National Library was built in neoclassical style and the monument of the holy brothers St. St. Cyril and Methodius is an inseparable part of it. The National Library gathers, processes, organizes, preserves and provides to Bulgarians and foreigners printed and other type of publications that were published in the country.

Services for readers

All the readers could use the library’s materials after presenting their reading card.

The types of reading cards are:

- regular – issued for a calendar year and have to be re-registered by the 20th January each calendar year.

- monthly card

- daily card

To receive a reading card all the users have to:

- present an ID card;

- pay a tax according to the Price-list for the services in the National Library, which is approved by the Director.

The terms and conditions for receiving a reading card are described in the Regulation for service of the readers in the St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library. The registration of the readers and issuing of reading cards could be done at the Registration desk.
