The museum crams 1,400 years of Hangzhou history into 600 square meters of space. The second floor of the two-story museum,is constructed completely out of wood. The first floor is divided into the south and north sections . The south section displays historical records of Hangzhou ancient city walls. The north exhibit focuses on the stories of these walls . On display are old pictures, diagrams of the ever-changing city borders, unearthed artifacts, murals and woodcuttings that depict ancient life along the walls. Some of the ancient bricks are also on display below the glass floor.
