The Xiaoshan Museum is in Xiaoshan District, the settlement of Majiabang culture about 8,000 years ago and one of the birthplaces of Chinese porcelains. It is a compressive museum of historical importance.

Qigong, a notable Chinese calligraphist, wrote the Xiaoshan Museum’s name. It opened in 1999 and has an area of 8,000 square meters. Xiaoshan Museum contains more than 4,000 pieces of relics, most of which are prehistoric artifacts, porcelains, jade artifacts, paintings and calligraphy.
