Yingze Park, the largest comprehensive park in Taiyuan, is located in the middle section of Yingze Avenue. The park covers a total area of over 70 hectares (700,000 square meters), one third of which is taken up by Yingze Lake . The park is divided into a North Lake Scenic Area, Central Scenic Area, Southern Scenic Area and South Lake Scenic Area by terrain.

The zoo, which is situated to the east of the middle section of Xinjian North Road and covers an area of over 50 hectares, is centered around Longtan Lake. It’s the only professional zoo in Shanxi and an ideal place for people to embrace the natural environment. The Children’s Park, which located at Haizibian in the city center and formerly known as Wenying Lake, is the first park in Taiyuan. Forest Park is the largest park in Taiyuan, and is located at the south section of Datong Road in Jiancaoping District, and is currently under intensified construction. Fenhe River Park is a large scale urban ecological landscape park situated in the city center and its reservoir of three levels formed by four rubber dams and compound channels gives you a glinting scenery of water and sky.

The main feature building of the Buddhist Sutra Depository in the center of park is quite spectacular, and different types of bridges, corridors, pavilions, sheds, shed frames, sculptures and other small garden ornaments are widely distributed and shaded by trees and flowers, allow you to appreciate them while taking a break. The park has a flower pavilion, aquarium, calligraphy and painting exhibition hall, and miniature landscape garden as well as a botanical garden with peonies, Chinese herbaceous peonies, roses and many other specific plants in it. It also has tennis courts, miniature golf courses, playgrounds and other recreational venues, which provide visitors with an ideal place for entertainment as well as cultural and sports activities.

Yingze Lake is divided into 3 parts of South Lake, North Lake and Central Lake. A long corridor with twists and turns is situated on the east side of Central Lake. The 150-meter long gallery-type timber architecture with carved beams and painted pillars has a distinctive ethnic style. Rockwork is piled up to the south of Central Lake, and the waterside pavilion at the foot of the rockery extends to the center of lake. Bridges across Yingze Lake and the boats make it a lively scene.

There are loads of pavilions with gracious names in Yingze Park. It has a Peony Pavilion on the east bank of North Lake, a Lotus Pavilion alongside the lotus pond, a Feature Pavilion adjacent to West Gate, a Rose Pavilion near the orchard, a Hexagonal Pavilion opposite the long corridor, Hypoxis Pavilion and Quadrangle Pavilion in Peony Garden and etc. The winding paths are very attractive.

The ancient Buddhist Sutra architecture in the park is quite elegant. It was built in the Jin Dynasty and relocated to this place to give Yingze Park a simple and unsophisticated beauty.

Visitors can enjoy flower shows and painting exhibitions in Yingze Park, as well as go swimming, boating and roller skating in summer time, and skating and watching snow in the winter. The park has a children’s playground, and different kinds of cultural and recreational activities are held from time to time.

Yingze Park was listed as a city level unit in 1993, and awarded the title of Paradigm of Taiyuan City for many years in a row. The park has set up a Flower Shop, Flower Service Center and Greening Service Center in recent years, providing people living in the province and the city with gardening, home decorations and other services.
