Located by the Irtysh River, Wucaitan Resort is 22 kilometers from Burqin county in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Wucaitan Resort is a unique Yartang landform in the entire country.

The mud stones are in different shapes. Some of them resemble mysterious castles, while others resemble concretionary waterfalls or the Buddha. There are also different kinds of trees including Populus nigra, cathay poplar, white poplar, bitter poplar and Populus euphratica. Thus it got its reputation as a natural gene pool for poplars. The Irtysh River runs through the resort and gives it a romantic touch during sunset.
