News: Buenos Aires Presents Its Advances as an Intelligent Destination

At the 2nd UNWTO World Congress on intelligent destinations in Spain, the city presented its big data system. In September, the city will launch a platform that aims to make it easier for the public and private sector to take decisions.

Industry experts from around the world gathered at the 2nd World Congress on Intelligent Tourism Destinations organised by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) alongside the government of the principality of Asturias in Oviedo, Spain. This edition dealt with themes such as digital transformation, technological solutions, governance, and the importance of technology in sustainable development.

The Buenos Aires City Tourist Board presented the advances in its Sistema de Inteligencia Turística, a joint project by the tourist board, the Spanish State Association for the Management of Touristm Innovation and Technology (SEGITTUR), and the "Argentine Ministry of Tourism". The presentation also detailed the big data techniques implemented for better understanding of information gathered.

Representing the tourist board was Federico Esper, director of Market Intelligence and Observatory. In December, Buenos Aires will launch an interactive platform that combines many variable and indicators to facilitate decision making for both the private and public sectors.
