From the first documented work to the water-lily series created in the gardens of Giverny Town in the following decades, the three-story exhibition hall covers the main works of Monet throughout his creative period. Among them is the painting Grainstack, which broke the auction record of Monet's works. It was sold at Sotheby's for $ 110.7 million last year. It won’t be too much to call it the most expensive “haystack” in history!

Beside the exhibits of the Museum Barberini itself, the exhibition also borrowed works from the the Orsay Museum in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the National Gallery in London, and the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo.

Monet excelled at experiments and expressions of light and shadow. Place selection and location awareness reflect his creation process. He captured changes in light and the passage of seasons by drawing the same scene multiple times.

The retrospective exhibition of Monet's works will last until June 1 this year. Affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, the Museum Barberini will be closed until March 17. It is still uncertain whether you can visit by yourself during the exhibition.

Even if you miss this opportunity to have a close look at the large exhibition of Monet, the Museum Barberini will exhibit the private collection as a fixed collection, which belongs to the museum founder Mr. Hasso Plattner, from September 5 this year.

From Berlin, you can easily reach Potsdam by light rail or regional train to the Museum Barberini.

In addition, you can also watch Monet's paintings in the center of Berlin. Among the impressionist works on the second-floor at the Museum Island's Alte Nationalgalerie, Monet's works are on display as a permanent collection.
