On 3 September 2021, WTCF Beijing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit & World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development opened at China National Convention Center in Beijing, with the theme of "Revitalizing World Tourism and Energizing City Development". It was organized by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality together with the world's major international organizations and tourism institutions. At the opening ceremony, Ángeles Muñoz Oriol, Mayor of Marbella (Spain), delivered a video speech on behalf of New Members. She noted: "Marbella has joined WTCF with great enthusiasm. We hope to learn from others while making contributions, so as to benefit everyone".

Ángeles Muñoz Oriol, Mayor of Marbella (Spain), delivers a video speech on behalf of New WTCF Members

The seaside city of Marbella is a world-renowned summer resort, and tourism is the pillar of its economic recovery and employment. Ángeles Muñoz Oriol stated that the pandemic has proved the absolute strategic importance of tourism. In order to mitigate the influences of COVID-19 on local tourism, Marbella will never stop exploring and keep investing in tourism, enhance international relations so as to consolidate its status as a world-renowned tourism brand. In addition, the city will vigorously improve the added value of tourism. "When providing destinations for tourists to choose from, we should not only consider major traditional projects like beaches full of sunshine or high mountains, but also offer high-quality complementary products and services".

The COVID-19 outbreak has exerted negative influences on global tourism, but it has also inspired new tourism modes and needs. At the same time, business forms of global tourism are becoming more diversified. In her speech, Ángeles Muñoz Oriol pointed out that Marbella has been, when facing great and continuous changes in the world tourism, vigorously improving local tourism resources. It has formulated a strategy on coordinated cooperation between the public and private sectors. The strategy is intended to improve Marbella's tourism services and build a world-renowned tourism city from various perspectives, including food, entertainment, culture, heritages, business, nature, sports and hotels. Besides, Marbella has been working hard to promote home tours in all four seasons with the ultimate aim of providing a fabulous tourism dwelling place for global tourists.

At last, Ángeles Muñoz Oriol stressed that Marbella will join hands with global tourism cities, learn from each other, fight for common development, jointly promote the recovery and development of global tourism.
