Mexico inaugurated on 22 May an annual event to promote national and international tourism products and services, as tourism companies around the world strive to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Secretary of the Interior Adan Augusto Lopez and Secretary of Tourism Miguel Torruco announced the opening of the 46th annual "Tianguis Turistico," one of Mexico's top tourism fairs, which will run through 25 May in the resort city of Acapulco.

The officials presented a series of measures aimed at boosting the tourism sector through improvements to airport infrastructure and highways.

The annual tourism fair will be participated by representatives of travel agencies, restaurants and hotels, airlines and others from more than 70 countries, the organizers said.

It is expected that more than 40 million international tourists will visit Mexico this year, according to Mexico's tourism authorities.
