The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has launched a global promotion campaign, offering free flights and vouchers to woo visitors now that entry restrictions have been lifted.

Called Hello Hong Kong, the initiative includes 500,000 free flight tickets, city-wide offers and 'Hong Kong Goodies' vouchers.

Dr Pang Yiu-kai, HKTB chairman, said: "Hong Kong is back on the map for global travellers, with more excitement to offer than ever before.

"I am confident that Hong Kong's vibrant east-meets-west culture, together with our iconic and brand-new attractions and immersive experiences will attract travellers back for an epic, unforgettable journey."

Dane Cheng, HKTB executive director, said promotional videos will feature business leaders, social influencers and celebrities.

The 500,000 free economy return tickets will be given away by the Airport Authority Hong Kong to different markets in phases, through three Hong Kong-based carriers: Cathay Pacific Airways, Hong Kong Express and Hong Kong Airlines, starting from March.

The Hong Kong Airport Authority said tickets for markets beyond Asia will be released in May, with details on the airlines' websites.

Offers from more than 16,000 outlets across the city have been put together by the HKTB and the tourism and hospitality sectors.

One million "Hong Kong Goodies" vouchers, each worth more than HKD 100, will be given out, offering free welcome drinks at participating bars, restaurants, and hotels, or a cash voucher to be redeemed in the transport, culinary, retail and attraction sectors.

New developments include M+ and Hong Kong Palace Museum at the West Kowloon Cultural District; the new sixth-generation Peak Tram; Water World Ocean Park; and a new night-time show called Momentous at Hong Kong Disneyland.

Events in 2023 include the Hong Kong Marathon, Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival and New Year Countdown Celebrations.
