The 52nd Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB Berlin) officially opened in Berlin, Germany on Wednesday.
ITB Berlin is the world’s leading travel trade show. During the show, participants from different countries, such as China, Mexico and Thailand will make presentations, promoting their countries’ tourism image. Guilin and Wuxi, two tourism cities in China, will showcase their tourism culture.
In 2017, a total of 10,000 companies and organizations from 184 countries exhibited their products and services to around 169,000 visitors, which included 109,000 trade visitors.
World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) released Report on World Tourism Economy Trends (2018) during the first day of ITB. The Report indicated that in 2018 the growth rate of the world tourism market will continue to surpass the growth rate of the world economy. The total growth rate increase from global tourism market is expected to reach 6.7%, higher than the growth rates of the global GDP at 3.6% and 2.9%, which was predicted by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank respectively.
