Join thousands of proud Capetonians as they congregate in Adderley Street and on the Grand Parade in Darling Street in the city centre for Cape Town’s biggest, free open-air event – the official switching on of the Adderley Street festive lights on Sunday, 3 December 2017.

The aim of the festive lights is to spread joy by lifting the spirits of local residents and welcoming tourists during the summer holidays.

Executive Mayor Patricia de Lille has announced that the inclusive launch of the holiday season will take place on the 3rd December with a wonderful Festival of Lights celebration that everyone is invited to attend. The Executive Mayor (and her entourage of special little guest stars) will turn on the lights at 8:30pm, but there’ll be plenty of exciting action leading up to the main event.

In honour of the famous light switch flip moment, there'll be a live concert featuring some of the country's biggest names. The concert kicks off at 4pm so make sure you arrive early enough to secure a good viewing spot.

Bring your family and have a fun day (and night) out in the heart of the beautiful Mother City! Make sure you're there to witness the magical moment when the street lights up and everyone cheers together - be a part of our fabulous family of Capetonians and help us celebrate the beginning of the holiday season together.
