American offers 165 movies, 300 television shows, 700 music albums and 20 games as part of it inflight entertainment system. It’s the biggest entertainment suite among U.S. carriers, claims AA.

American offers 165 movies, 300 television shows, 700 music albums and 20 games as part of it inflight entertainment system. It’s the biggest entertainment suite among U.S. carriers, claims AA.

American previously offered some of its entertainment content for free, but charged for premium products. For example, the carrier charged $7.99 to view new movies.

The free entertainment is available on seatbacks of planes equipped with entertainment systems or via WiFi on personal devices. American has 280 aircraft that are equipped with in-seat entertainment. Out of its approximately 950-plane fleet, more than 850 aircraft offer either wireless or in-seat entertainment.

The change to all-free content came two months after Delta announced that it would eliminate fees for use of its entertainment suite.
