The Kuala Lumpur Metro Group has been invited to open its fourth premium resort in Port Dickson after the official opening of the RM400mil Lexis Hibiscus, the group's third and biggest one in the resort town.
After being impressed with Lexis Hibiscus' design concept and architecture, Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said that his administration would welcome any move from the group to open another resort, provided it doesn't cause any harm to the environment.
Lexis Hibiscus was designed after the national flower, the bunga raya, and its water villas stretch almost 1.2km out to sea. It is now Port Dickson's pride. Lexis Hibiscus has 639 villas where 522 are overwater units. It has 643 swimming pools, making it the only resort in the country where every room comes with its own private pool and steam room.
In March, Lexis Hibiscus was certified by Guinness World Records as having the most number of swimming pools and the highest number of villas over water in a single resort.
Mohamad said that the opening of Lexis Hibiscus would complement plans to boost tourism in the state as it would increase tourist arrivals to the resort town. He urged hotels and resorts in the state to work with industry players to promote other tourism destinations and by-products. Mohamad added that his administration had gazetted 8ha off Cape Rachado as a marine park and said the move was necessary to protect corals and other marine life in the area.
Mohamad said more progress is expected to pour into Port Dickson once the Port Dickson-KL International Airport Expressway as well as the Seremban-PD rail route projects are completed.
