April 1: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On March 31, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 36 new cases of confirmed infections (35 imported cases and 1 indigenous case in Guangdong province), 26 new cases of suspected infections (all are imported cases), and 7 deaths (6 in Hubei province and 1 in Shanghai municipality). 186 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,418 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 62.

As of 24:00 on March 31, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 806 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 115 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 691 confirmed cases (including 20 in serious condition) and 169 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on March 31, the National Health Commission had received 81,554 reports of confirmed cases and 3,312 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 76,238 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,004 confirmed cases (including 466 in serious condition) and 172 suspected cases. So far, 707,913 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 20,314 are now under medical observation.

On March 31, Hubei reported 1 new case of confirmed infections (an imported case in Wuhan), no new cases of suspected infections, and 6 deaths (5 in Wuhan). 173 patients (all in Wuhan) were released from hospital after being cured.

As of 24:00 on March 31, Hubei had reported 67,802 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,007 in Wuhan) and 3,193 deaths (including 2,553 in Wuhan). In all, 63,326 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 46,175 in Wuhan. There still remained 1,283 confirmed cases (including 1,279 in Wuhan), with 435 in serious condition (including 432 in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.

On March 31, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 130 new asymptomatic cases. 302 asymptomatic cases were freed from quarantine and 2 became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on March 31, 1,367 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation, a decrease of 174 from the previous day.

As of 24:00 on March 31, 1,077 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 714 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 128 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 41 in Macao (10 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 322 in Taiwan (5 had been dead and 39 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
