【Introduction】:In all, 1,400 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 278 confirmed cases (including 5 in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.

On May 5, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 2 new cases of confirmed infections (both are imported cases in Shaanxi province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all are imported cases in Shanghai municipality), and no deaths. 58 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 517 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. On May 5, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 20 new asymptomatic cases (including 3 imported cases). 64 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 9 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 5, 903 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 88 imported cases). As of 24:00 on May 5, 1,523 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,040 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 920 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (39 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 438 in Taiwan (6 had been dead and 334 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
