May 27: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 26, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 1 new case of confirmed infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Fujian province), and no deaths. 3 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 218 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on May 26, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,732 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,687 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 45 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 26, the National Health Commission had received reports of 82,993 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,280 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 79 confirmed cases (including 5 in serious condition) and 6 suspected cases. So far, 743,586 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,796 are now under medical observation.

On May 26, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 28 new asymptomatic cases (all are indigenous cases). 27 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 1 imported case) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 26, 404 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 27 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 26, 1,551 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,065 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 1,033 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 441 in Taiwan (7 had been dead and 416 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
